Artificial Administrative Areas

There are artificial or "dummy" areas in some of the TomTom datasets. A dummy administrative area is an area feature that is captured for GDF compliancy reasons only. It does not refer to any real-world administrative feature.

Artificial Order1-Order9 administrative areas are identified by seven consecutive "9"s followed by a four-digit number.

Example: 99999990001

These IDs may not be unique within a dataset. This situation is currently under investigation at TomTom. A temporary solution for users who need to make these areas unique would be to query records:
